If the weather's got you down, we have your back. Here are 15 fun things you can do on a rainy day in Los Angeles.
1. Drink a Cocktail at a Swanky Cocktail Bar
LA is actually home to some pretty incredible cocktail bars. There’s Delilah, home to several fun drinks with playful names such as the Champagne Papi (any Drake fans out there?) and the Pink Pussycat. Channel sunnier weather at Lono Hollywood Tiki Bar and order the Banana Boo Loo, a cocktail made with rum, lime, pineapple, banana, and Demerarra.
2. Volunteer at an Animal Shelter
Los Angeles Animal Services are always looking for volunteers to work with the public and work with the Animal Services staff to help out with adoption events. Who knows, you may end up bringing home a furry friend of your own!
The Roxy Theatre was named one of the top 50 best live music venues by LA Weekly, and coming to the venue in October are artists Paul Kelly, My American Heart, and more. There’s also the Troubadour, a classic music club with upcoming performances by Jessie J and Lee Ann Womack
6. Tuck Into Some of the Latest Food Trends
Lodge Bread Co. has some of the most delicious toasts in town (their Ojai avocado with local radish and lemon is to die for). Also worth trying is Okipoki, whose sushi burritos include unique fillings like hot Cheetos.
7. Make it a Netflix Night
Netflix and chill with the new season of Stranger Things due out Oct. 27th. Order some takeout from Mozza2Go, Mario Batali and Nancy Silverton’s Italian eatery—gourmet pizzas (try the burrata, tomato, cherry tomato, Sicilian oregano, and extra virgin olive oil) can be paired with a variety of desserts including a shareable half pound of cookies. Wines are also available for pickup, making it the perfect Netflix night.
The Legends of Hollywood Tours is a wonderful family-owned company that offers two different tours, a Legends Beach Trip and a City and Celebrity Home Tour. There’s also Six Taste, home of the “original downtown LA food tour.”
10. Channel Your Inner Pretty Woman
Pay homage to the iconic movie and do some serious (or “Big! Huge!”) shopping. You could visit the actual store that appeared in Pretty Woman, Boulmiche on Beverly Dr. or head closer to the coast at the Venice Beach’s Lily Ashwell, which sells vintage-inspired women’s clothing and home goods.
11. Splurge on a Facial at the Ritz Carlton Spa at LA Live
The Enzyme Renewing Facial will immediately smooth, brighten, and firm a tired complexion. It’s deeply cleansing and includes a brush cleanse, enzyme peel, and a lifting and smoothing mask just before a massage.
12. Think Sunshine and Grab Some Summery Foods
Craving some Mexican and a margarita? Try El Coyote, which has been around since 1931 or grab some incredible ice cream sandwiches at Coolhaus in Culver City.
15. Prep for Next Year’s Awards Season at a Fitness Class
Try Box Union, a boxing studio with a Zen vibe, or get charitable at Chrome Cycle, which offers your traditional spinning classes and includes various charitable drives such as an opening weekend shoe drive for the homeless.
