Made-in-LA denim purveyor MOTHER launches its first-ever menswear collection today, expanding the brand’s footprint.
Known for its irreverent indie attitude and pioneering spirit, the addition of men’s to MOTHER’s existing womenswear collection is not a complete surprise. The brand has been known to push the envelope with oversized fits and even launched a gender-bending collection, Love Your Other, which borrowed heavily from men’s silhouettes.
“As the women’s collection evolved, we started to use men’s jeans, patterns and fabrics for a ‘borrowed from the boys’ look. We kept referring back to them and had so much built out in that area that it was only natural for a men’s collection to be the next step for us,” said Creative Director and Co-founder Tim Kaeding.
The new mens line includes three denim fits in four washes, all inspired by the bar scene, with names such as The Joint, The Neat, and The Chaser.
