Now that you have easy-breezy style pieces, heat wave-proof beauty products, and chic hats to keep you cool, it’s time to get outside and enjoy the sunshine before summer ends. To help you maximize your fun under the sun, we’ve compiled a list of LA’s most pedestrian-friendly areas filled with places to shop, eat, and relax. All you need to do is park your car and follow the itineraries below.
Situated just a block away from the Santa Monica Pier, the Third Street Promenade promises a quintessential LA day out by the sea. We suggest starting your day with a workout at Burn Fitness followed by a delicious sushi lunch at Sugarfish. Then, make your way to Santa Monica Place for a luxe shopping spree at stores like Bloomingdale’s, Barneys, Nordstrom, and more.
If you’re looking for a more laid-back day out, head to the bustling Abbot Kinney Boulevard and sweat it out with a spin/yoga hybrid class at YAS Fitness and refuel with a juice or a healthy lunch at Kreation Juice. Next up, shop for new sunglasses at Warby Parker, pick up skincare goodies at Caudalie, and find cool style pieces at Satine. End the day with a delicious meal at Salt Air or Gjelina.
Clear your schedule and make the drive to the Pacific Palisades for a decadent day that starts with a blow out at Drybar. Then, pop on over to Antioch Street to shop for fine jewelry at Jaimie Geller and take your time exploring Elyse Walker’s massive designer haven that commands nearly the entire block. All that shopping will work up an appetite, so treat yourself to dinner at Wolfgang Puck.
From shopping to eating to entertainment, you’ll never run out of things to see and do in Old Town Pasadena. We recommend sitting back in iPic’s plush seats to enjoy a movie or pampering yourself with a mani/pedi at Bellacures. For lunch, find a seat at 800 Degrees Pizza or Sushi Roku and have Coolhaus ice cream for dessert. There’s plenty of shopping options here, too, including Joie, Mohawk General Store, and Eileen Fisher.
A day in Downtown LA’s pedestrian-friendly South Broadway requires a stop at Moon Juice for some fuel. Afterward, shop your heart out at Acne Studios, OAK NYC, Tanner Goods, and Aesop. Once hunger strikes again, stop by Umami Burger or head up to the Ace Hotel’s rooftop lounge to enjoy food and drinks with a view.
Melrose Place might be small, but there’s so much to see and do. But first, make sure you get your dose of caffeine at Alfred Coffee & Kitchen before heading next door to Kate Somerville’s Skincare Clinic for some pampering. Shopping favorites on this retail stretch include Elodie K.’s jewelry, Violet Grey’s luxe beauty products, and Isabel Marant and The Row’s cult-favorite style pieces. Dinner calls for a decadent meal at Fig & Olive and don’t leave without swinging by Compartes to pick up a gourmet chocolate bar for dessert.
