FASHION ISLAND Where:Cucina Enoteca (Fashion Island, Newport Beach, 949-706-1416). “We [re-create] the experience of nonna’s house!” says lead bartender Tucky Dias. What: The Casanova. Why: “It brings [me] back to gingerbread house–building with loved ones,” says Dias. “The essence of vanilla, baking spices, tobacco, and bittersweet Cynar blended with festive chocolate: It’s yuletide in a cup.” environment.”
THE GROVE Where:Jon & Vinny’s (412 N. Fairfax Ave., LA, 323-334-3369). Partner, sommelier, and owner of the in-house wine shop, HelenJohannsen touts the restaurant’s “serene environment." What: 2012 Rosso di Montepulciano. Why: “Sanguineto is so radical for the holidays!” says Johannsen. “It walks the line between light- and full- bodied [and] has a lusciousness that is seductive. This wine is a holiday hug.”
TWO RODEO Where: The Blvd Lounge at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel (9500 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills, 310-275-5200). The mood inside is set with “numerous Christmas trees,” says General Manager Grant Nelson. What: Bourbon Breakfast: Maker’s 46 bourbon, cold-brew coffee, maple syrup, heavy cream, cinnamon. Why: “The bourbon and cold-brew provide a fun, perfect pick-me-up after a long day of shopping!” says Nelson.
THE VILLAGE AT WESTFIELD TOPANGA Where:JOEY Woodland Hills (Westfield Topanga, Woodland Hills, 818-340-5639). What: Al Presidente: “Maker’s Mark bourbon, Amaro Montenegro, Aperol, and fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice,” says bar director Jesse Sahlin. “The namesake of our president, Al Jessa.” Why: “There is a de-stressing balance between the warmth of the bourbon, the Italian liqueurs, and the subtle sweetness of the grapefruit,” says Sahlin. Sounds like the perfect “chill” for a long day at the mall.
