Already a favorite of A-listers such as Jennifer Lawrence, Rihanna, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Jessica Alba, London-based haute couture house Galvan has taken the Hollywood starlet set by storm. Now, this spring, following an instantly sold-out exclusive collaboration with Opening Ceremony (after being the first-ever eveningwear line the top-tier fashion boutique carried), the brand is launching a pre-collection and their own e-commerce website.
Founded by four hot-chick entrepreneurs—Sola Harrison (creative director, 31), Katherine Holmgren (CEO, 31), Anna-Christin Haas (designer, 37), and Carolyn Hodler (sales director, 31)—based in LA, London, and Düsseldorf, Germany, Galvan gives the modern girl a sleek, contemporary red-carpet dress that’s fashion-forward yet timeless. Their goal? “We’re trying to make eveningwear less cheesy,” says Holmgren.
Inspired by ’90s supermodels, Galvan is making the modern red-carpet dress feel younger and sexier, without the unnecessary frills or hefty price tag. “A dress that’s $1,500 isn’t inexpensive, but for the quality you’re getting, it’s more accessible [than other labels],” says Holmgren. And in a “black-tie optional” city like Los Angeles, versatility is key. “We want our girls to be able to go seamlessly from an [awards] dinner to a dive bar and still feel comfortable,” adds Harrison.
