Here, Snyder helps healthfully kickstart the New Year with three good-for-you smoothie recipes.
Rainforest Acai Smoothie
3 ½ ounces of frozen acai berries
2 cups of unsweetened almond milk
½ Tablespoon of raw cacao
½ avocado (optional)
First, blend the acai berries and almond milk at a slow speed. Once the berries break down, blend at a slightly faster speed. Add the cacao and Stevia once the blend is mostly smooth. Lastly, add the optional avocado for a thicker consistency.
Why it’s a healthy drink choice: “The Rainforest Acai Smoothie is a great substitute for your traditional snack or dessert. This is a personal favorite of a lot of my clients. Acai berries are a great beauty food—they are filled with beneficial nutrients and antioxidants, including omega-3 fatty acids, which help promote smooth, radiant skin.”
Glowing Green Smoothie (large batch)
2 cups of very cold water
7 cups of spinach
6 cups of chopped lettuce
1 ½ cups of chopped celery
1 chopped and cored apple
1 chopped and cored pear
2 Tablespoons of fresh organic lemon juice
Start by putting water, spinach, and chopped romaine lettuce in a blender. Then, start the blender at a slow speed and gradually increase it until smooth. While you’re increasing the speed, add in the celery, pear, and apple, followed by the banana and lemon juice.
Why it’s a healthy drink choice: “The Glowing Green Smoothie is the highlight of the whole Beauty Detox program. This drink has become part of my daily routine and my clients’, too. If I had to give people one piece of advice about how they can change their diet for the better, I’d tell them to start every day with a Glowing Green Smoothie. For those that don’t enjoy the taste of celery or other greens, don’t worry. The fruit that’s included ‘cuts through’ the taste of the greens. What’s great about the Glowing Green Smoothie is that you can make one large batch in the beginning of the week and it will last up to three days.”
Power Protein Smoothie
2 cups of unsweetened almond milk or water
3-4 Tablespoons of hemp or brown rice protein powder
1-2 Tablespoons of chia seeds
½ frozen acai smoothie packet
½ teaspoon of cinnamon
½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 Banana (optional)
1 Tablespoon of bee pollen (optional)
First, add the almond milk or water into a blender. Then, gradually add the other ingredients and blend until smooth.
Why it’s a healthy drink choice: “This smoothie is a great option as a snack before or after a workout. The Power Protein Smoothie is loaded with at least 20 grams of quality plant protein. Blended with acai and bee pollen, this smoothie is enriched with much-needed nutrients and enzymes. It will also leave you feeling fuller well into the day, which can help ward off unnecessary snacking or grazing.”
