We recently talked all things fashion with supermodel Chrissy Teigen, but after getting the scoop on her upcoming cookbook and obsessing over her delicious Instagram feed, we knew she’d be the perfect foodie to whip up the ultimate LA food guide.
We caught up with Teigen at the dreamy alfresco launch soirée for new LA-based shoe label, RAYE (available exclusively on Revolve), at Ysabel in West Hollywood to ask her for her favorite LA food spots. Find out her go-to restos for the juiciest steak, the spiciest seafood, life-changing crab rolls, and more.
“John and I love going to a place called Via Veneto [...] It’s so great, it’s so authentic. They do the simplest things. They’ll do a piece of toast with scrambled eggs on top and shaved white truffles and it’ll be like the best bite you’ve had all year.”
“They [also] have a Florentine steak that’s crazy—so juicy. It’s for two. I think it’s like three inches thick—it’s enormous. We always bring the bones back for our dogs.”
“Brunch at The Ivy is really great still. They’ve really been so consistent for such a long time. They do a crab cake Benedict that’s really great. Roscoe’s is another great one—does that count for brunch?” [Laughs]
“Their spices are more tailored to Thai people [...] it’s crazy hot. They still do the thing where they throw the crab legs and the shrimp in the bag and they mix it with your sauce. You pick from one of five different spice levels and then one of five different spices. I do like medley and then I go Bangkok spicy—it’s off the menu and it’s so hot. I just went there yesterday. I love seafood like that. That’s something that I crave all of the time. They throw corn in the bag with all your seasonings and potatoes. It’s nice and hearty and comforting. It’s super messy, [so] you have to double glove it.”
“[Gracias Madre has] the best margaritas. It’s so gorgeous outside when you sit on the patio. They do a crab cake, obviously it’s not crab, it’s like artichoke and corn—it’s so, so tasty. Crossroads makes a chicken paillard that’s crazy and they do a lasagna. They really trick you into [believing that you’re] eating super heavy, hearty foods. Stacy Keibler took me there and I was very like ‘I don’t know about this.’ I wanted to hate it, but I really loved it.”
“I get no rice [and] add avocado. They are so good. It’s truly just crab, mayo, and soy paper. [...] You always see the funniest people there, the most random celebrities ever. It’s very bright, it’s not the sexiest place, but the food is so good.”
