Grand Park Now Open Downtown

Downtown LA opened the first part of its long-awaited outdoor oasis, Grand Park, last week. The 12-acre property boasts sprawling event and performance lawns, lush gardens, and the restored Arthur J. Will memorial fountain complete with a new wading membrane pool. Eventually set to run from City Hall to The Music Center, the $56 million project was created with the vision of becoming a Central Park-type community meeting ground.
Joining L.A. Live and The Disney Concert Hall as the other big downtown city structures built in the past ten years, Grand Park will continue its expansion as part of the Grand Avenue Project, which will include a Frank Gehry-designed tower featuring living spaces, shopping, and a movie theater. For now, LA residents can take in the park’s vibrantly landscaped grounds, wander through winding walking paths, lounge on bright pink benches, and more.
