Gorge Opens on Sunset

At Gorge, expect an unfussy ambiance where top-notch French wine and food are the focus.
The French expression “A la gorge” translates to “to the throat,” and that’s exactly where you’ll be bringing the delicious cured meats and wine from this new West Hollywood spot. Gorge, which debuted on September 10, comes to you from Top Chef alum and Joel Robuchon protégé Elia Aboumrad and pastry chef Uyen Nguyen, who met one another in Paris at the prestigious Ecole Lenôtre school.
The intimate space has the potential to be an ideal date spot or after-work retreat. With decorative aluminum ceilings, reclaimed wood siding, and a few French artworks, the overall aesthetic stays simple, allowing the food and wine to really stand out.
Gorge’s menu focuses on charcuterie boards accompanied by fresh seasonal salads. The fare ranges from house-made sausages, to chicken liver parfait, to the Rouget & Noix de St. Jacques terrine, which for those who don’t parle français, is a red snapper and scallop terrine topped with a citrus reduction. For dessert, dive into Nguyen’s renowned St. Honoré choux puffs, traditional French cream-filled puff pastries. At Gorge, you have a choice of five seasonal flavors ranging from the classic vanilla, to a lychee raspberry with rosewater pastry cream, lychee fruit, raspberries, and vanilla chantilly. The wine list is predominantly French, but master sommelier Darius Allyn's suggested pairings on the menu will help guide you through it. 8917 W. Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, 310-657-6328
