Copenhagen Pastry Comes to Culver City
July 06, 2012 | by —Michelle Ward | Homepage
Although still in its soft opening stage, samples of authentic Danish delights at Culver City’s Copenhagen Pastry are already receiving acclaim. Made from scratch, traditional baked goods include fruit and custard-filled spandauer (known in America as Danishes), kringle (comparable to a cinnamon bun), almond shortbread rings, butter cakes, and rye bread.
Flaky and light as air, the fresh-out-of-the oven pastries come courtesy of owner Karen Hansen and consultant Henrik Gram, a veteran baker at Hygge Bakery in downtown LA who has been perfecting his pastry skills since 1971. Modernly designed with sleek wood, white walls, and pops of orange, the bakery is a cheerful place to stop for an afternoon snack or morning treat. A grand opening is slated for July 15th. 11113 Washington Blvd., Culver City, 310-839-8900
