In addition to beach days, barbecues, and lots of sunshine, July also means National Ice Cream month. To celebrate, we’ve rounded up seven delicious and unique flavors found around town. From blue velvet to fried chicken and waffles, you’re in for a real frozen treat.

1. Coolhaus’ Fried Chicken and Waffles

Coolhaus is known for its crazy-cool flavors and their fried chicken and waffles is no exception. The inventive delight comprises brown butter maple ice cream topped with maple candied chicken skins and caramelized waffles bits. 8588 Washington Blvd., Culver City, 310-424-5559

2. Sweet Rose Creamery’s Blueberry Muffin

Part pastry, part ice cream, Sweet Rose Creamery’s blueberry muffin ice cream is as sweet as it sounds. Think vanilla cake baked and cubed and blueberries cooked in sugar, churned together into a frozen confection. 565 Beverly Blvd., Fairfax, 310-844-0944

3. McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams’ Summer Fruit Cobbler

This iconic Santa Barbara ice cream shop just debuted its first LA outpost at Downtown’s Grand Central Market. On the menu, you’ll find the whimsical summer fruit cobbler, which can only be described as summer in a bowl. It features housemade local raspberry jam, O’Henry peaches, and toasted crumble bits. 317 S. Broadway, Downtown LA, 805-963-8813

4. Sprinkles’ Coconut Fudge Almond

Scoop up some of Sprinkles’ creamy coconut ice cream now through the end of July. This flavor is topped with toasted shredded coconut, California almonds, and a decadent housemade fudge. 9635 S. Santa Monica Blvd., Beverly Hills, 310-274-7890

5. Carmela’s Rose Petal

Carmela’s handmade ice creams are handcrafted with ingredients fresh from the farmer’s market. Their garden-inspired rose petal ice cream is especially satisfying thanks to a creative mix of organic rosewater and locally-grown roses. 7920 W. Third St., Beverly Grove, 323-944-0232

6. Ice Cream Lab’s Blue Velvet

Forget red velvet, Ice Cream Lab wows with their liquid nitrogen blue velvet ice cream. Made-to-order with fresh and natural ingredients, the decadent organic vanilla ice scream scoop is mixed with homemade blue velvet cupcakes and topped with cream cheese frosting. 9461 S. Santa Monica Blvd., Beverly Hills, 310-795-6505

7. L.A. Creamery’s Viceroy Manhattan and Viceroy Absinthe Green

In honor of National Ice Cream month, L.A. Creamery is popping up at Viceroy Santa Monica and debuting two new spirits-infused ice cream flavors to celebrate. The Viceroy Manhattan features brown butter toffee and Bulleit Rye ice cream and arrives topped with maraschino cherries.
