As a mother of two and the busy leader of a burgeoning beauty brand, Christina Zilber still finds time to do her makeup everyday. “I’m one of those people that wears makeup to look like I’m not wearing any makeup,” she says of her daily look. So then it comes as no surprise that Jouer, Zilber’s cosmetics company, which she launched in 2008, embraces a naturally pretty makeup look with peachy pink lip-glosses, radiant tints, and earthy eye palettes. Products in the line are also designed to interlock with each other, allowing for Lego-like, no-makeup-bag-necessary palettes. Here, Zilber shares news on Jouer’s latest spring products, her own beauty and skincare regime, and the two salon services every woman should know how to do on her own.

Makeup inspiration: I love blogs and video tutorials. I watch Lisa Eldridge and I think she’s brilliant, and MissPixieLuLu. I love the blogs, too: Beauty Blogging Junkie and the Product Girl.

Skincare regiment: I use Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle, Anti-Blemish Cream with Retin-A. I really believe in exfoliation, but I don’t believe in surface exfolaints, like grainy scrubs and stuff. You want a gentle exfoliant. I use the Retin-A and I use a SkinCeuticals vitamin C serum—it keeps me from breaking out. Vitamin C is a miracle.

Spring trends: I feel like your clothes can be really expressive, but your makeup should stay pretty. We’re coming out with a really pretty pink lip-gloss in a shade called cherish. It’s a peachy pink that looks good on any skin tone. I’ve also got a really great eyeshadow duo in chocolat and peach, and a really pretty pink blush.

Natural beauty: It starts with my Luminzing Moisture Tint. It will even out your skin and give it that little glow, while letting your freckles shine through. That’s really the foundation—it’s like putting underwear on.

DIY salon services: I don’t get my eyebrows waxed, I rarely get manicures, I don’t get blow-outs—I do everything myself because I’m so busy. Three of my girlfriends are all going to come over and I’m going to teach them how to blow-dry their hair. Every girl should know how to give herself a manicure and blow-dry her own hair. I like the InStyler if you have fly-aways or frizzy hair. It clamps down and you brush it through and it makes your hair so smooth and you’re done. It’s so easy.

Mane man: I have Johnathan Gale, who I’m actually going to today, for my color. But, here’s the thing, I’m not even staying for a blow-dry, because I’ve got meetings the rest of the day. So I’ll just scrunch up my hair and make it look kind of beachy.
