Meet the eco-conscious minds behind the 100 percent organic, Californiabased line Liv Grn

Los Angeles Confidential: What initially sparked your interest in the green fashion scene?
Sydney Holland:
I love fashion and have been in the business since I was 17. I worked for a contemporary T-shirt company called Zooey that added an organic collection to help the environment.
Larry Frazin: After many years in the music business, I thought it would be great to be a part of the emerging eco-culture. There just wasn’t a cool, affordable, organic clothing line in the marketplace, and when I met Sydney, I pitched her on the idea, and that was it.

LAC: What inspires your designs?
SH: We get inspiration from fabrics, shapes and styles. I shop everywhere from vintage tocouture, Chanel to Free People. I get ideas from yoga class, the LA street scene, Hawaii.
LF: I’m a sucker for the ’70s—I love the bold graphics from Woodstock. The California surf scene and clothing culture are nonstop inspiration.

LAC: How did your partnership with Global Green USA start?
LF:
Global Green USA is involved in so many amazing projects; it is greening schools, rebuilding homes and quietly making an impact. It’s dedicated to making our world better, and we donate 10 percent to the organization.

LAC: What do you love about Southern California?
SH:
The ocean and the laid-back lifestyle.
LF: The surf culture, the weather—and the artistic community is pretty vibrant here, contrary to popular belief.

LAC: What’s next for Liv Grn?
SH:
A children’s collection, scarves, hats and men’s tees. We’re taking over the ecoworld one thread at a time!
