What's In Evelyn Ungvari's Bag?
by BENJAMIN LIONG SETIAWAN AND LOREN YANDOC
If there's one thing any woman can relate to, it’s how daunting the search for the right pair of heels can be. It was this dilemma that prompted Diavolina boutique founder and head buyer Evelyn Ungvari (pictured above) to set up shop more than a dozen years ago on Beverly Boulevard. Making it her mission to bring a pretty yet sexy and mischievous aesthetic to LA stylemakers, Ungvari opened her store with an array of designer footwear from the likes of Marc Jacobs, Giuseppe Zanotti and Vivienne Westwood.
Since then, Diavolina has moved to its current home on West 3rd Street and expanded from footwear to a sublimely edited one-stop shop for clothing, bags, sunglasses, jewelry and more from ultrachic designers including Chloé and Alexander Wang. (The store also boasts an online shop—a fashion oasis for those who don’t call LA home.) And where might you spot this SoCal gal when she’s not working? Perhaps on a stroll out with her precious pooches in Laurel Canyon, or scoping flea markets and vintage stores for retro sunglasses to add to her collection of upwards of 150 pairs. It’s a necessary luxury for any Angeleno, especially one with such a bright vision. 8741 W. 3rd St., LA
