Fashion designer Elie Tahari has added a new boutique to the vast array of shopping at Fashion Island. The expansive 2,500-squarefoot space houses the entire women’s, men’s and accessories collections, including the new men’s suiting line launching this season. LOS ANGELES CONFIDENTIAL Describe the atmosphere inside your new Fashion Island store.
ELIE TAHARI: Each store is specifically designed for its location and environment. I always want to accomplish a dramatic design where the clothes are the focal point and customers feel at home.
LAC: What were your inspirations for fall?
ET: The women’s collection pays homage to women who travel the globe in style, like the sophisticated elegance of Marlene Dietrich in Shanghai Express. The men’s collection is urbane and sharp, yet young and easy.
LAC: Why did you decide to open your first California store?
