Shareen Mitchell
Owner, Shareen Vintage
Because she worked at Vogue under Polly Allen Mellen when Grace Mirabella was the editor in chief. Because she opened her LA store, Shareen Vintage, in 2006, giving Angelenos an affordable option in vintage shopping (a New York outpost opened in 2009). Because she has had everyone from Yves Saint Laurent designers to André Leon Talley in her store. Because she describes her personal style as “sophisticated gypsy meets English schoolgirl meets fashionable nun.” Because she wears vintage every day, and most of it is not designer. Because in April a show about her store, Dresscue Me, premieres on Planet Green. Because she believes fashion is a vocabulary that allows her to speak on “self-expression, self-esteem and love in all of its forms.” Because we hear her loud and clear.

Avi Brosh

Founder and president, By Palisades development group (owners of Palihouse)
Because growing up on the East Coast attending prep schools and showing horses defined his personal sense of style. Because that world created in him a fashion sense he explains as “a vigilante yet effortless commitment to all things classic, mixed with hand-me-downs and heirlooms.” Because he takes a “uniform approach” to his wardrobe, which allows him to look impeccable without giving fashion too much thought. Because for as long as he can remember, he has been enamored with the aesthetics and style of people, places and things. Because in a city where hot spots come and go at rapid speed, his Palihouse manages to remain one of the quietly cool places to both hang out and check in.

Jen Rade
Stylist
Because if you can style Angelina Jolie and Cher in the same week, you have a keen and indescribable understanding of personal style. Because she says her biggest fashion moment is a toss-up between her Gunne Sax bat mitzvah dress and her Jessica McClintock prom gown—both were lavender with ruffles. Because when she walks into a room, you know it—and not only because of that wild, curly hair. Because she started by styling music videos and has evolved into styling the most A-list stars in the world. Because she makes decisions based on what she likes and what her client likes, not based on what she’s afraid the media will say. Because she believes styling is about getting to know someone and helping him or her know themselves. Because she says fashion is not her life—people are.
