8. Lake Arrowhead (lakearrowhead.net) is a little secret about 100 miles outside of LA, nestled in the mountains of the San Bernardino National Forest. It’s an excellent place to spend a day wakeboarding and waterskiing. The best part is that it’s never crowded in the summer.
9. I grew up on great Mexican food in Arizona and am always in search of it around here. Hands down, Casa Vega (13301 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, 818-788-4868; casavega.com) is the best place I’ve found. I recommend ordering the chiles rellenos.
10. ArcLight Hollywood cinema (6360 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, 323-464-4226; arclightcinemas.com). The idea is simple but genius: Buy your tickets online and pick your seat instead of having to wait in line for an hour, just to end up craning your neck in a front-row seat.
