How Awesome is it being Spencer Grammer, star of ABC Family’s Greek and daughter of TV legend Kelsey Grammer? “I’d say it’s pretty awesome,” giggles Grammer. “I’m 25, I’m on a hit TV show and I live in LA. I kind of really like my life.” As she should.

In her rare free time, Grammer is also on the hunt for her first house here in the City of Angels. “It’ll be the first time I do something that is my own,” she says. “I’m excited to have my own space—a place where I’ll feel happy and can do the things I want to it.”

Owning a home will not really be her first solo breakout, though—there’s that TV show, too. “I got the job on my own,” she says, not thanks to—and probably despite—her Emmy-caliber pedigree. “[My last name has] never hindered me from getting a job, but I don’t think it’s actually helped, either,” says Grammer. But this daddy’s girl did benefit from some paternal words of wisdom. “The best career advice [my dad] gave me is to always be honest,” she says. “It’s sort of the same for life—always be honest and truthful in what you do.”

But when it comes to her character on Greek, what you see is not necessarily what you get. Grammer says Casey is “definitely a much more bubbly girly-girl” than she is. “I’m more of a laid-back tomboy. I would never wear any of the clothes my character wears!”
