I always take my Ermenegildo Zegna navy-blue blazer; it’s easy to dress up or down.

Ermenegildo Zegna for his classic and refined style and wonderful fabrics, and Ralph Lauren for his true American styling

Bill Bryson’s A Short History of Nearly Everything; Norman Doidge, MD’s The Brain That Changes Itself; and our very own cookbook, Ad Hoc at Home
What’s on your iPod these days?
A little bit of everything: classic rock, country, classical, R&B and pop. I am enjoying the Michael Jackson collection at the moment.
If someone gave you $10,000, how would you spend it?
I’d go to a wonderful restaurant with 10 friends and have a memorable time.
Where is your ideal vacation destination?
I love the beach; it relaxes me—so anywhere there is a wonderful beach and good food.
Do you have a preferred place to stay in Los Angeles?
I am enjoying the Montage Beverly Hills. [Managing director] Ali Kasikci takes such good care of us, it’s hard to leave.
Do you have a motto you live by?
To do a little better than I did the day before. If you are able to do this, then you will be able to reach any goal.
