Halcyon days are here. Summer in LA is bookended by those two iconic pillars of the entertainment industry: the Oscars and the Emmys. That means that during the warm days ahead we can put the top down, let our hair down (just a little), and enjoy a slightly slower pace until September. Take a little time to relish the warm water and refreshing breezes on the beaches in Santa Monica, Malibu, and Orange County, and allow yourself a few extra hours to explore all of the amazing things going on in Los Angeles.
A few to take note of: our "Hottest Ticket" in this issue is the lush and beautiful Herb Ritts retrospective happening at The Getty. For those who are fans of fashion and masterful images of some of the most celebrated people of the '70s, '80s, and '90s, this exhibit has it all. We also feature a story about the amazing pieces being added to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art from its Collectors Committee Weekend this spring, including a screen print by Robert Rauschenberg and an 1890s elevator panel by legendary architect Louis Sullivan— don’t miss these new additions to our city's art treasures.
Finally, summer allows us all a bit more freedom to indulge ourselves. For me, that means getting in a bit of shopping. Shoes are my personal weakness, so look for me at South Coast Plaza and on Rodeo Drive meeting a friend for a quick lunch or drink before gratifying my love of Louboutins (and Jimmy Choos and Manolo Blahniks).
With the glamour, excitement, and fast pace of September and the Emmys just around the corner, now is the time to get off the freeway and cruise down the side streets of our incredible city.
