Traveling Back in Time
I would have done well at Woodstock. I would have been in heaven with all the long dresses, bell-bottoms, flowing tops, gigantic sunglasses and floppy hats. Sometimes I wish I could have lived in that era just to have experienced the styles firsthand (or at the very least I wish my mother had kept the clothes she wore during that time). So you can imagine my delight when I saw what came down the fall-fashion runways—retro fabulous all the way, and it’s glorious. The ’70s are, without a doubt, back and better than ever, and I, for one, couldn’t be more excited to fully embrace them. On our fashion pages this month, we celebrate this return to vintage glam with countless items every Rachel Zoe-inspired, ’70s-loving fashionista will revel in. Check out the Gucci hat in our Most Wanted section: It’s life changing.
Also heralding a return to the style of another time is our fall-fashion feature starring the oh-so-lovely Ahna O’Reilly from the recently released movie The Help, based on the best-selling book. There is no question O’Reilly’s star is on the rise, and once you see the way she takes on different Old Hollywood-inspired characters in our ’40s-influenced shoot, you’ll know exactly why. She was a joy to work with and was beyond beautiful in every fantastic outfit we put her in. She truly brought the looks to life.
It’s fall, which means it’s time to be sartorially inspired. I can’t wait to dive into all the styles of the ’70s and ’40s reinvented for today. If I choose just the right pieces from fall’s fashion bounty, maybe I can create my own personal Woodstock moment. It’s not as good as being there, but at least I’ll look the part, and sometimes that’s just as much fun.
Happy fall fashion!
Sincerely,
