Men of the Hour

Once a year we have the honor of paying tribute to the important Y-chromosome-carrying influencers in our lives—those much loved and admired fathers, partners, friends, mentors and sons who enrich our experiences in so many ways. We consider it a privilege to profile so many talented, sophisticated and high-caliber men who manage to almost always get it right.

This month’s exceptional lineup includes Shlomi Haziza (aka “H”), prolific designer and founder of H Studio, whose contemporary furniture, sculptures and art can be found all over the world. Then there is the ever-humble Erik Halfacre, who is continuing his family legacy as president of the highly respected Traditional Jewelers. In the fashion world, Robin Chretien of Robin’s Jean opened the brand’s first store right here in Beverly Hills. Chretien helped bring the tidal wave of denim culture to life, first as the lead designer for Blue Cult and later for Hudson Jeans.

For all you singles out there, enjoy our feature on some of LA’s hottest bachelors. This group will challenge your mind, tempt your palate and make you swoon. Top Chef’s Marcel Vigneron keeps it steamy in the kitchen, and LA Galaxy player and FIFA World Cup competitor Edson Buddle keeps it hot on the soccer field. From environmental advocate and polar explorer Sebastian Copeland to the chiseled good looks of reality star Brody Jenner and the sultry sounds of British crooner Matt Goss, it’s clear we are lucky to live in a city rich with fantastic men.

And since this is our men’s issue, it seems like a great month to thank the important men in my life. I personally owe a great deal of gratitude to my 85-year-old father, Charlie, who unknowingly introduced me to freedom, exploration and independence through the simple act of teaching me to ride a bike so many years ago. To my own personal superhero, my husband Dane, I cannot imagine life on planet Earth without you as my partner in crime. Your loyalty continues to amaze me—in spite of my many foibles. To my big-brained friends Rory, Brad, Sandy and so many others—you make me laugh, you make me cry from laughing and you continually challenge me. Thank you for contributing so much happiness to my life.
