When former Law & Order star Elisabeth Röhm’s mom died of a heart attack last November, the actress was forced to examine the incredible importance of a healthy lifestyle. “My mom was overweight and died young,” she says. “I feel like if she was in better shape she may have had a greater chance at survival.”
The devastating loss motivated Röhm to help others get fit by opening a Brentwood outpost of Circuit Works—the popular Venice gym founded by Raphael Verela (who is co-owner of the new location). The actress originally discovered Circuit Works four years ago while walking by the Venice locale. She gave the interval training a try and was hooked, but after getting pregnant and being told she couldn’t work out, she gained 70 pounds. “I come from a family of overeaters and women who struggle with their weight, so I wanted to get it off for health reasons,” says Röhm. She lost the weight within a year and now wants to make sure others stay healthy, too. “If I can provide a place for people to feel confident and see real results, I’m happy to do it.” 11677 San Vicente Blvd., LA; circuitworksla.com
