STEFAN’S ON MONTANA
Season five Top Chef runner-up Stefan Richter first gave us the swanky Stefan’s at LA Farm in Santa Monica; now he brings us his latest name-bearing venture, Stefan’s on Montana. Richter’s BYOB Montana Avenue digs delivers Swiss-inspired comfort food in a small sun-drenched space. The breakfast menu brims with mouthwatering choices such as the ridiculously decadent French toast stuffed with Nutella and banana and the house Benedict—a healthier take on traditional eggs Benedict thanks to an olive oil-based tomato Hollandaise sauce. Lunch features hot smoked-trout salad, chicken pot pie or parsnip ravioli and dinner favorites include a variety of fondues (a meat version comes with beef, bison, veal and chicken). Come for breakfast, stay for dinner. 1518 Montana Ave., Santa Monica; stefansonmontana.com
THE SLAW DOGS
As Angelenos, we’ve obsessed over burgers, Korean-style tacos and fries. The latest childhood favorite to go gourmet? The humble hot dog. Build your own concoction at The Slaw Dogs in Pasadena, where you start with your choice of meat (beef, turkey, veggie, chicken sausage or bratwurst). Sure, there are the standard toppings such as sauerkraut and pickle chips, but you’ll also find jalapeño, bacon, kimchi, truffle oil and goat cheese. The Slaw Dogs offers hot dog salads for the healthy set and signature dogs in case you aren’t feeling creative (opt for the Caesar Dog—chicken sausage, romaine lettuce, garlic, croutons and Parmesan with a Caesar dressing). Make it a meal with beer-battered onion rings or Thai slaw on the side. 720 N. Lake Ave., No. 8, Pasadena; theslawdogs.com

THE EGGS HAVE IT
One taste of chef Sebastien Archambault’s périgourdine poached egg with field mushrooms, foie gras and black truffle at RH (stands for Riot House) at Andaz WestHollywood, and you’ll never look at eggs the same way again. Here, we give you the recipe so you can try this indulgent delicacy in the comfort of your own home.
