Santa Barbara spot prawns with seco sauce, salted oatmeal, broccoli and green garlic

The folks at the Patina Restaurant Group certainly know the recipe for success: Find a fabulous celebrity architect-designed venue like Renzo Piano’s Lynda and Stewart Resnick Pavilion at LACMA, add a dash of superb executive chef Kris Morningstar, stir in creative cocktails from “barsmith” Michel Dozois, heat on high and serve fresh. The result is Ray’s & Stark Bar—named after the legendary Hollywood producer Ray Stark. Morningstar whips up his signature seasonal fancy food (some dishes even incorporate ingredients from his on-site garden), including summery Santa Barbara spot prawns with seco sauce, salted oatmeal, broccoli and green garlic. Dozois, meanwhile, pays homage to iconic movies with cocktails such as Smokey and the Bandit, made with Laphroaig Islay malt whisky, honey, lemon and orange peel over a cracked Névé Ice rock. 5905 Wilshire Blvd., LA
