Starting August 18, The Armory Center for the Arts brings a bright spot to the traffic-heavy Pasadena area. Those traveling on both the north and south side of North Fair Oaks Blvd. will get a glimpse of “Roadside Attraction,” a three-panel structure that comprises the museum’s temporary outdoor gallery.
A trio of separately designed ocean-centric photos, curators Irene Tsatsos and Sinead Finnerty-Pyne hope the image will bring personal identification for each passerby that encounters it. “Roadside Attraction” runs through November 11. 733 North Fair Oaks Blvd., Pasadena
Land Rover Adventures Offers Two Driving Excursions

Luxury off-road vehicle Land Rover is offering an exclusive Land Rover Adventures driving program, designed for both beginner and experienced off-road adrenaline-seekers. Participants have the option of a Four Day Adventure, running from August 24-27, or an Eight Day Adventure from August 27-September 3.
Both programs will tour Utah’s Moab Desert, featuring unparalleled views of the Colorado River and Arches National Park, along with the spectacular red rock mountains. Participants will be provided with personalized guidance from professional Land Rover Driving Instructors as they test Land Rover’s 2012 Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and LR4 first-hand.
The Four Day Adventure, priced at $4,500 for couples, is perfect for travel and adventure fanatics to fit into their otherwise packed schedules. Participants will tour the Moab Desert and conquer the mesa’s “staircase” and “Hell’s Revenge” while improving their off-road driving skills and luxuriating in breathtaking views.

Carrera Launches New Collection at Chateau Marmont

Carrera marked the West Coast launch of Carrera 6000, a collection of unisex vintage-inspired sunglasses, with a summer soiree at a private Chateau Marmont bungalow. Stars such as Emily VanCamp, Josh Bowman, Kevin Connolly, Laura Prepon, Josh Henderson, Amber Lancaster, and Sam Page came to check out the line’s 12-color style combinations, which range from black-and-white stripes to pink camouflage.
Named after the 6000-degree temperature of the sun’s photosphere, the square-shaped frames are made from a special Optyl material designed to withhold their shape, even in extreme heat. In addition to taking home new shades, the guests were treated to makeup touchups at a COVERGIRL beauty bar and poolside cocktails courtesy of Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum. Wolfgang Puck’s WP24 restaurant at the Ritz Carlton Downtown has launched an Olympic-inspired cocktail suitably named “Go for Gold.” The drink features 24-karat gold flakes floating in a mix of Oxley gin, lemon, and rosemary plucked straight from the restaurant’s rooftop garden.

A combination of art and dance, LA Dance Project showcased a preview of Framework at MOCA on July 19 in anticipation of its repeat August 2 and 9 performances. The show, produced by LA Dance Project’s Benjamin Millepied in homage to LA-based artist Mark Bradford, ran as a 25-minute set.
Millipeid—a New York City ballet principal who gained household fame as the choreographer for Black Swan and is married to Natalie Portman—took the floor with former Stephen Petronio Company dancer Amanda Wells. The number’s muse, Bradford, currently has two works in MOCA’s “The Painting Factory: Abstraction After Warhol,” which runs through August 20.
