Ground-breaking gallery bursts onto the scene September 22 with Zio Ziegler show.

Project Gallery + Espresso debuts this weekend with an exhibit from Zio Ziegler (work above).
Project Gallery + Espresso soft opens September 22—although sans the espresso portion of its name for now—hosting a reception to honor their debut show, “Lost Illusions” by Zio Ziegler from 8-11 PM. The exhibit features a stunning array of colorful pieces by the San Francisco artist, who incorporates tribal designs with classical techniques to make a harmonious, yet visually striking series of works.
Project Gallery + Espresso is the brainchild of Sarah Gough, a FIDM graduate who seeks to transform the gallery experience. Offering an array of both established and up-and-coming artists in a variety of genres, the gallery will be defined less by one particular type of work and more by the welcoming “come in and stay for a while” vibe Gough has created.
The modern space is accented with reclaimed wood siding, but the standout addition to the gallery is the high-end espresso bar, a work of art in and of itself according to Gough. As for the impetus to incorporate coffee into the gallery, Gough tells us, “Sometimes I see people in galleries, not during an opening, and they look anxious or something, like they don't want to be totally alone with the art in this quiet space. Adding espresso to it seems to help people relax and want to enjoy it more, maybe even discuss it with others. And who doesn't like a nice smooth latte anyway?”
While the espresso portion is still in development, the gallery will be open sporadically for business as of the Ziegler exhibit, rotating new artists in every four to five weeks. 1553 N Cahuenga Blvd., Hollywood
