MB Post and Top LA Chefs Cook for a Cause

Manhattan Beach restaurant offers special menu featuring farm-fresh local ingredients.

July 10, 2012

MB Post chef David LeFevre is celebrating his 40th birthday as only a top-tier chef can—with an exclusive dinner party featuring the city’s most prominent culinary talents. The exclusive July 16th event will bring together an impressive list of chefs including Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo (Animal), Matt Molina (Mozza), Steve Samson and Zach Pollack (Sotto), and Zoe Nathan (Rustic Canyon, Huckleberry, Milo & Olive). Each chef or culinary duo will prepare one part of the five-course menu using locally grown organic produce.

Part of LeFevre’s “Can You Dig It?” summer supper series—a pairing of guest chefs and Southern California growers—the dinners feature ingredients courtesy of Windrose Farms, Coastal Farms, and Harry’s Berries. This installment’s delicious dishes include a salad of gem lettuce, pickled beets, and bread crumbs, drizzled with green garlic crème fraiche; orecchiette with sausage and Swiss chard; and corn cake topped with strawberry rhubarb compote and corn ice cream from Nathan’s Sweet Rose Creamery. Proceeds from the $80-per-person meal ($115 with wine pairing) will benefit Common Threads, a non-profit that offers free cooking instruction to low-income families. Reservations now available for six separate seatings: 5:45 PM, 6 PM, 6:15 PM, 8 PM, 8:15 PM, 8:30 PM. 1142 Manhattan Ave., Manhattan Beach, 310-545-5405
