CLOVER, Mid City
Just opened on January 24, Clover not only provides their signature cold-pressed juices and cleanses but also aims to be a mecca for healthy eaters, concentrating on local products that support sustainable farming. Clover’s namesake juices are inspired by what’s fresh and available at the farmer’s market and therefore many options will change seasonally. Current juices include The Clover, which blends kale, spinach, cucumber, celery, pear, cilantro, mint, and lime, and The Seasonal with yam, carrot, apple, ginger, and cinnamon. Regardless of the flavor you select, you’ll be enjoying three pounds of produce.
Meanwhile, those not craving juice can still enjoy Clover for the kombucha on tap, Stumptown coffee, salads like a vegan cranberry blueberry quinoa by Silverlake’s Flore Vegan, sandwiches by executive chef Bruce Kalman (The Churchill), and energy bars, mini donuts, cookies, muffins, and more baked fresh daily by Lauren Lobley (Charm City Cakes). Gluten-free and vegan options are also a plenty. While anyone can grab and go, Clover invites guests to enjoy their modern environment with furnishings by neighborhood design store Croft House, and a rotating series of street art by Lab Art Gallery on the walls. Outdoor benches provide the perfect location to mingle with friends while listening to the music on the outdoor speakers. 342 S. La Brea Ave., Mid City, 323-609-3903
Squeezed at Culina, Beverly Hills
The Four Seasons Beverly Hills recently launched Squeezed at their in-house Italian restaurant Culina, where executive chef Ashley James has crafted a menu of healthy juices featuring fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Try the Green Goddess with kale, basil, mint, cantaloupe, apple, cucumber, and celery, or something more savory like the Protein Circle with almond milk, vanilla, and dates.
Perhaps the most distinctive option at Culina is the ability to customize your own smoothie, by selecting from a variety of options each labeled by name and health benefit on their handy juice cards. So, you might add fennel for phytonutrients, Asian pear for colon health, or grapefruit for its cancer-fighting properties. All of the squeezed juices are available to go or to drink in-house on Culina’s chic patio, the ideal place to recharge before or after a day of shopping in Beverly Hills. 300 S. Doheny Dr., Beverly Hills, 310-860-4000
GLOW BIO, West Hollywood
Founded by celebrity trainer and nutritionist Kim Snyder, author of the The Beauty Detox Solution, Glow Bio boasts Snyder’s personal recipes previously only available to her clients, with 100-percent organic products ranging from smoothies, cold-pressed juices, loose-leaf teas, shade-grown coffee, and more. Snyder’s products are divided into three categories—Ingest, Digest, and Manifest—aimed to provide organic nutrients, probiotics, and induce strength, respectively. Each group can be bundled or you can opt for one of their pre-selected cleanses, or choose a boost like Energy in a Spoon with bee pollen and coconut oil.
While each smoothie, shot, and juice is specifically tailored toward a specific health goal, with delicious options like the Power Protein with raw protein powder, chia, banana, raw cacao, stevia, and raw almond milk, it’s no wonder Snyder has a slew of celebrity fans like Drew Barrymore and Fergie. The eco-friendly shop invites patrons to enjoy their creations in-house with comfortable LED lights, re-planed wood tables, and an expansive outdoor patio where health and wellness classes are held monthly. Glow Bio’s commitment to wellness even extends to their packaging, which is compostable, non-leachable, and recyclable. 7473 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood, 323-782-3939
PRESSED JUICERY, Westwood Village
With successful outposts in West Hollywood, Brentwood, Studio City, Downtown, and now Westwood Village, Pressed Juicery is already well known for their signature 100-percent raw and unpasteurized cold-pressed juices. Each of their 35 flavors delivers five pounds of raw veggies, filled with the highest level of vitamins and minerals possible thanks to their custom-built hydraulic press. Although each juice is available on its own, Pressed is best known for their cleanses, which they’ll deliver straight to your door with detailed instructions to ensure success. However, their brick-and-mortar locations are not to be overlooked.
The latest outpost in Westwood was designed by celebrated architecture firm Standard to create a warm wooden space that corresponds with Pressed’s naturalistic approach. This location also helped to launch Pressed’s new eight-ounce Mini Bottles, ideal for children or those new to juicing who want to experience multiple flavors. And with options like watermelon mint, apple strawberry coconut, chocolate almond milk, and apple lemon extra ginger cayenne, it’s hard not to try them all. 10878 Kinross Ave., Westwood, 310-443-1414
